Trip Overview

Experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest before heading off for a scenic train journey across Canada. Start off in San Francisco where you will get to experience the best of what the “City by the Bay” has to offer. Then you will travel overnight up the coast to Seattle where you will have time to visit the famous Space Needle, stop by Pike’s Place Market, and take a bay cruise. After that you will continue north to Vancouver where you will travel around the city stopping at Stanley Park, the Vancouver Lookout, and the waterfront. After your stay in Vancouver, you will board Via Rail for your journey across the country. Enjoy scenes of snow-capped mountains, plains stretching far and wide, and beautiful blue lakes as you journey east. You’ll end your trip in Toronto, Canada’s largest city!

DAY 1 ARRIVE SAN FRANCISCO
Welcome to San Francisco! Transfer to your hotel and get checked in. The rest of the day is free for you to begin exploring the city! (Overnight in San Francisco)

DAY 2 SAN FRANCISCO
Today is yours to experience all the “City by the Bay” has to offer. Use your included hop-on, hop-off pass for a guided journey around the city. Step off an explore popular locations such as Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, and many more at your own pace. Also included is a San Francisco CityPASS with admission to several popular attractions such as the Aquarium of the Bay, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the California Academy of Sciences. (Overnight in San Francisco)

DAY 3 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Depart from San Francisco with Amtrak as you are shuttle to Emeryville to meet the train. You will journey north overnight towards Seattle. (Overnight onboard Amtrak)

DAY 4 SEATTLE
As your journey aboard the train continues today, you will take in some amazing northwest landscapes. With rolling hills and mountains, rocky gorges, stony rivers, and abundant pine forest, the Coast Starlight route through Oregon and Washington is a sightseeing experience in and of itself. In the evening you will arrive to Seattle. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 5 SEATTLE
Today, explore the iconic Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit today as you experience Seattle. Revel in the breathtaking views of the surrounding sea and mountains. Later, take a city tour of Seattle including Pike Place Market - one of the most famous farmers' markets. Buy fresh produce, banter with street performers, treasure hunt for antiques and watch the daily party at Pike Place Fish Market. Use your hop-on, hop-off pass to tour the city with easy access to all the popular landmarks. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 6 SEATTLE > VANCOUVER
This morning, board the train for your journey up to Vancouver. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax for the evening. (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 7 VANCOUVER
Use your sightseeing tour and spend the day exploring one of Canada's most beloved coastal cities. The city known as “Hollywood North” is famous for its beautiful architecture, mountainous surroundings, and historical heritage. Also included is admission to the Vancouver Lookout for breathtaking views of the city, the harbor, and the mountains. (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 8 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD VIA RAIL
Travel to the VIA Rail station and board the train to Jasper. Your journey into the mountains begins! (Overnight onboard VIA Rail)

DAY 9 JASPER
Your rail experience continues as the train makes its way up into the Canadian Rockies. Spectacular views are right outside your window. Upon arrival in Jasper, disembark and head to your hotel. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 10 JASPER
Embark on your tour of Jasper National Park and the Canadian Rockies. This scenic sightseeing experience will take you to some of the most outstanding sights and sounds that Jasper National Park has to offer, including Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake and the Athabasca Lookout. Explore the history, culture and beauty of the most rugged peaks in the Canadian Rockies. Marvel at the spectacular scenery and wildlife. Enjoy Maligne Valley, which exhibits natural wonders including a disappearing lake. Also included on this tour is a scenic mountain lake cruise. At Maligne Canyon, stroll along the soaring walls while learning about its unique underground water system. Discover the mystery of the disappearing lake and walk the shores of Maligne Lake, visit the gift shop or enjoy a snack in their restaurant. This excursion also offers the opportunity to see wildlife in their natural environment. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAYS 11-13 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD VIA RAIL
After departing from Jasper, The Canadian continues east for several days across the beautiful countryside of western Canada. The mountains give way to the prairies, lakes, and gentle hills as the train winds its way east from Jasper and through the rest of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Keep a camera handy to capture the scenery just outside the train as you make your way towards Toronto. (Overnight onboard VIA Rail)

DAY 14 TORONTO
After arriving this afternoon, you are free to begin exploring Toronto. This city, Canada's largest, is also its most diverse. From its intriguing neighborhoods such as Cabbagetown and Yorkville, to a population where over 160 languages are spoken daily, Toronto offers a variety of interesting experiences. (Overnight in Toronto)

DAY 15 TORONTO
Continue to use the hop-on, hop-off tour provided to you to explore Toronto. While sightseeing today, visit the CN Tower where your admission is included. Head up to the viewing level to marvel at the surrounding area including the city and Lake Ontario. (Overnight in Toronto)
