Trip Overview

Board the Southwest Chief in Chicago to Williams, Arizona. Along the way, take in the spectacular landscapes from the Observation Car. Spend one night in Williams, the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon” and enjoy breakfast at the Fred Harvey Restaurant before boarding the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. During your included tour of this natural wonder, you’ll experience awe-inspiring views. Then, transfer to Sedona to discover its unforgettable red rock landscapes during your included adventure through the desert. Visit Flagstaff for one-night, where you can explore on your own. Why not check out the Lowell Observatory for some stargazing? On day 7, board the Southwest Chief once more for your journey back to Chicago’s Union Station.

Little America Hotel

El Tovar

El Tovar Hotel, the premier lodging facility at the Grand Canyon, opened its doors in 1905 and was most recently renovated in 2005. In the past, the Hotel has hosted such luminaries as Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Western author Zane Grey, and many others. Today, El Tovar retains its elegant charm. Located on the Canyon rim, it features a fine dining room (open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), lounge and curio shop with newsstand.

Maswik Lodge

Maswik Lodge is a modern facility spread over several acres of ponderosa pine forest, located just 1/4 mile from the Canyon's edge. Maswik Lodge features a cafeteria that is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Here you will also find a sports bar with a wide screen TV, a curio shop stocked with handicrafts and gifts, and a transportation/activities desk.

Arabella Sedona

Adjacent to a Cococino National Forest hiking trail, this low-key hotel, set in 3 adobe-style buildings, is a 4-minute drive to downtown Sedona.
