Discover some of North America’s best trains, landscapes and cities on this 17-day scenic vacation by rail! Begin your journey on Amtrak’s Empire Builder train, traveling from Chicago to Seattle and passing through the rugged wooded wilderness of Glacier National Park. Enjoy discovering Seattle’s top attractions with your CityPASS. Then take the scenic rail journey north to Vancouver explore the city’s most popular sites, including Granville Island and Stanley Park. Witness all of the city’s beauty from one of the best vantage points, the Vancouver Lookout. Then, you’ll board VIA Rail to embark on a breathtaking cross-Canada rail experience to Jasper, passing through the Canadian Rockies and countryside. In Jasper, change the pace with a stunning tour of Jasper National Park and a boat cruise of crystal-clear Maligne Lake. Finally, spend time exploring vibrant Toronto at your leisure before continuing your rail journey back to Chicago.

DAY 1             CHICAGO
Welcome to Chicago, the Windy City! When you arrive, check into your hotel for a one-night stay and then start exploring this exciting city! Why not use your included admission to the Skydeck Chicago? Located on the 103rd floor of the former Sears Tower, this is one experience in the city that you can’t pass up! The views from the top are incredible. Once back down on the ground, discover some iconic sights and other attractions on your own. (Overnight in Chicago)

DAYS 2-3        OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Today, you’ll board Amtrak’s famous Empire Builder.  As you head west, you’ll travel along major portions of the Lewis and Clark trail following the footsteps of early pioneers. Relax onboard in the observation car while you take in the stunning views of the Missouri River, the beautiful North Dakota plains, and Glacier National Park in “Big Sky Country” as the train travels toward Seattle. (Overnight onboard Amtrak)

DAY 4             SEATTLE
Your first day in Seattle includes a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour, a ride to the top of the world-famous Space Needle and admission to the famous Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit. During your city tour of Seattle, you will get to visit all the top attractions, like Pike Place Market, Seattle Center, Seattle's Waterfront, and Pier 66 to name a few. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 5             SEATTLE
Continue using your CityPASS to see more of the shining ‘Emerald City.’ Perhaps visit the Great Wheel, walk the waterfront, or spend more time touring Pike’s Place Market and enjoy some delicious, fresh seafood. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 6             VANCOUVER
Today, travel to the Amtrak station and journey to Vancouver, British Columbia. Sit back and relax on the scenic ride through the northwest! Pull into Vancouver and travel to your hotel to check-in and drop your luggage for an afternoon of sightseeing on your own. (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 7             VANCOUVER
Begin using your hop-on, hop-off loop sightseeing tour! The tour is the easiest way to enjoy Vancouver's most popular areas: Downtown, Stanley Park, Chinatown, Gastown, Granville Island and more! All the stops are fully narrated, so you'll learn what makes the city so special! (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 8             OVERNIGHT ONBOARD VIA RAIL
Today, travel to the train station on your own for your departure onboard VIA Rail toward beautiful Jasper! During this scenic journey, you’ll have the opportunity to take in some incredible landscapes and memorable onboard experiences. (Overnight on VIA Rail)

DAY 9             JASPER
Are you ready to discover just how amazing Jasper is?! Upon arrival, check into your hotel for a three-night stay. Afterwards you may want to take a stroll through downtown Jasper and dine at one of the amazing restaurants or cafes! (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 10           JASPER
This morning, you will depart on a sightseeing tour of Jasper National Park where you will enjoy the wildlife, pristine lakes, and majestic mountain peaks all around you. You will also tour the magnificent Maligne Valley. Your tour guide will take you through the Maligne Canyon where you will walk above the gorge. Then you will continue on to Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake where you will board your boat cruise to Spirit Island. Cruising this serene mountain lake is a truly unforgettable experience. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 11           JASPER
Your final day and night in Jasper includes an Icefields Parkway tour! Visit the natural wonder of the Columbia Icefield - one of the largest expanses of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. Step onboard an Ice Explorer for an interpretive adventure onto the Athabasca Glacier. At the Glacier Skywalk, enjoy the unobstructed view on a glass-floored observation platform extending out over the Sunwapta Valley. Highlights will include: Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefield, Icefields Parkway, admission to Glacier Adventure and Glacier Skywalk. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 12-14      OVERNIGHT ONBOARD VIA RAIL
Continue your cross-Canada journey on VIA Rail today, taking in a variety of landscapes and sights only accessible by train. Keep a lookout for wildlife as well on this unforgettable scenic journey. (Overnight onboard VIA Rail)

DAY 15           TORONTO
When you arrive in Toronto, you’ll quickly discover that there’s plenty to see and do! Use your included hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour to visit the city’s top attractions and sights. If you have time to check out the CN Tower with your included admission, you’ll be treated to sweeping views. (Overnight in Toronto)

DAY 16           OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Continue exploring Toronto during the day and in the evening, take a private transfer to the Amtrak station in Buffalo, NY. Board the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago and enjoy your final train ride which completes your USA and Canada Rail Experience!  (Overnight onboard Amtrak)
