TRIP ITINERARY

DAY 1 YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN WASHINGTON, DC
Arrive in Washington, DC today to kick off your cross-country rail journey. (Overnight in Washington, DC)

DAY 2 WASHINGTON, DC
Today, discover the fascinating history of our nation on a hop-on, hop-off trolley tour though the city. Stops include the Jefferson Memorial, the National Cathedral, and the Smithsonian, which contains 15 separate museums, and the National Zoo. (Overnight in Washington, DC) 

DAY 3 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Visit the International Spy Museum before boarding Amtrak this evening for the trip to New Orleans.  (Overnight onboard Amtrak) 

DAY 4 NEW ORLEANS
Relax onboard the train today as you make your way to New Orleans. Arrive in the evening, drop off your bags and head out to experience New Orleans vibrant nightlife. (Overnight in New Orleans)

DAY 5 NEW ORLEANS
Have your camera ready today as you discover the mysteries and the beauty of the Louisiana swamps and bayous on a fascinating boat trip. Cruise by custom built swamp boat and observe the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, nutria and many species of snake – all from a safe distance! Discover the wonders of this fascinating ecosystem and learn about efforts being made to restore this vital habitat. After the tour, spend the rest of the day discovering NOLA at your leisure. (Overnight in New Orleans) 

DAY 6 NEW ORLEANS
Start your day in New Orleans with a jazz brunch at the famous Court of Two Sisters restaurant. Enjoy delectable Cajun cuisine in the famous courtyard of this award-winning restaurant while listening to live jazz. You can’t get more classic New Orleans than this! Enjoy the rest of the day touring the city - absorb the sights and sounds of the world-famous French Quarter and historic Jackson Square. (Overnight in New Orleans) BR 

DAY 7 SAN ANTONIO
Travel on your own to the train station this morning and board Amtrak’s Sunset Limited line bound for San Antonio. Pass through bayous and deserts before arriving in San Antonio. (Overnight in San Antonio) 

DAY 8 SAN ANTONIO
Welcome to the melting pot of cultural influences that is San Antonio! Use your admission and pay a visit to the Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum, featuring the historic saloon where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders and Pancho Villa is rumored to have planned the Mexican Revolution. (Overnight in San Antonio) 

DAY 9 SAN ANTONIO
Get ready for an exciting day of San Antonio sightseeing! Today, you will take a guided tour and explore the top attractions in San Antonio. Visit the Alamo and learn what makes it so legendary. (Overnight in San Antonio) 

DAY 10 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Depart San Antonio for Los Angeles. Spend the day relaxing and enjoying the sprawling desert vistas as you glide through New Mexico and Arizona on the train. DAY 11 LOS ANGELES
