Amtrak Vacations® Trip Protection Option
YLH recommends the purchase of the Trip Protection Option (TPO) starting at $49 per person. When you purchase our Trip Protection Option we will:
• Waive cancellation penalties for any reason (YLH’s penalties are detailed below, and the supplier’s fees may vary from vendor to vendor), provided notice is received by YLH by 12:00 Noon Eastern Time on the last business day prior to departure.
• Waive the YLH and/or supplier change fees for one customer-initiated change prior to 30 days before departure. Any and all other changes will be subject to normal change and supplier fees.
• Refund unused travel components originally purchased if you notify us by 12:00 Noon Eastern Time on the last business day prior to departure.
The following penalties and fees are not covered by our TPO:
• Special event show tickets, sporting event tickets, airline tickets, park tickets and all travel components involving a stay or tour in a National Park. VIA Rail and cruise cancellation fees, all re-ticketing fees, if applicable. Lost or stolen ticket processing fees.
• Transportation ticket increases resulting from changes in travel dates, travel times, itinerary or passenger name.
TPO must be purchased by the time you submit your deposit and must be purchased by all persons in your party. The purchase of TPO is non-refundable. You or your Travel Agent must notify YH anytime you wish to make a change or cancel any portion of your trip prior to your scheduled use of the travel component you wish to change or cancel. All travel documents, including airline and rail tickets and/or attraction tickets, must be received by YLH prior to processing a refund. Documents must be returned by a traceable delivery service.
YLH highly recommends its Trip Protection Option to protect you from the following penalties.
PAYMENT / CHANGE SUMMARY
• 60+ Days Prior to Departure: A minimum non-refundable deposit of $100 Per Person due within 3 days, balance due 60 days prior to departure. A higher deposit is required for certain itineraries.
• 59-3 Days Prior to Departure: Full Payment at the time of booking
• Bookings within 14 days of departure will incur a late booking fee
IF YOU PAY YOUR DEPOSIT WITH A CREDIT CARD, YLH will charge the balance due 60 days prior to departure to the same credit card used for deposit
Once under deposit, each change will require a $20 change fee per reservation. Changes requested less than 3 business days prior to arrival will incur increased change fees and may not be accepted. Changes requiring reissue of documents will incur a $50 per reservation fee. Once air tickets have been issued, there will be no name changes or refunds allowed.
YLH highly recommends its Trip Protection Option to protect you from the following penalties.
• YLH will waive YLH’s portion of assessed change fees when the respective change increases the cost of the trip by more than YLH’s portion of the change fee. YLH cannot waive assessed supplier fees.
• New bookings may not be accepted within 3 days of departure. Late booking fees may apply for bookings made less than 15 days prior to departure.
• Trip Protection Option (TPO) must be paid at the time of the initial deposit.
CANCEL SUMMARY
• 31 + Days Prior to Departure: $200 Per Person plus supplier fees
• 30 -16 Days Prior to Departure: $300 Per Person plus supplier fees
• 15 - 4 Days Prior to Departure: $400 Per Person plus supplier fees
• 3 Days Prior to Departure - day of departure: No Refund
Airline ticket cancellations or changes will require additional charges.
Supplier cancellation fees may be assessed in addition to the change/cancel fees stated above.
Above fees do not apply to customers purchasing the Trip Protection Option (TPO).

PRICES, REFUNDS, CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

• Prices are subject to change without notice and all reservations are based on availability. Prices listed are quoted in U.S. dollars, per person, double occupancy. Our lowest prices may not be available on all days or for all sales. Single, triple, quad and child hotel rates may be available upon request. Bookings within 14 days of departure will incur a late booking fee.
• Holiday, special events and peak travel periods may require a surcharge and may be subject to special payment, change and cancellation conditions. Advertised promotions are not retroactive to existing reservations.
• Additional supplier fees may be assessed in addition to the change/cancel fees stated above.
• Your cancellation must be made by phone to YLH. Date of cancellation is the business day (holidays and weekends are not considered business days) on which YLH receives verbal notice. Notice received after 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) will be considered made the next business day.
• Refund requests must be made in writing to YLH within 14 days of the completion of your trip. Prior to receiving a refund, negotiable tickets and vouchers must be returned.
• Unused travel components are not refundable.
• Lost vouchers and tickets are not refundable.
• YLH OFFERS REFUNDS AND SUBSTITUTIONS WITH THE EXPRESS UNDERSTANDING THAT THE RECEIPT BY YOU IS A WAIVER OF ADDITIONAL REMEDIES.
• If you make a change after travel documents are issued, you may need new travel documents. YLH charges a re-ticketing fee when it is necessary to reissue Rail or Air tickets. The amount of this fee varies depending on the carrier(s) involved. Before new tickets can be issued, the original tickets must be returned at your expense by a traceable delivery service to Yankee Holidays, Inc., Attention: Ticketing, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 120B, Beverly, MA 01915.
• Group booking terms and conditions may vary from those stated herein.
PRICE GUARANTEE
YLH recommends that you pay in full at the time of booking. Once full payment is received, YLH will guarantee that your purchase price will not increase unless you make a change to your purchase. All changes are re-priced to the current pricing in effect at time of the change.
PAYMENTS

• YLH accepts American Express®, Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover® Card and checks from travel agencies.
• If you pay your deposit with a credit card, YH will automatically charge the balance due 60 days prior to departure to the same credit card used to make your deposit payment.
• Amtrak Vacations payments made by travel agency check should be made payable to: Yankee Holidays, Inc.
OTHER INFORMATION
Specific requests must be made at the time of booking and will be honored based on availability at the time of check-in. Bedding requests are not guaranteed. At some hotels there will be an additional charge if a crib or rollaway bed is required, payable directly to the hotel. Special Assistance Individuals with mobility impairments and or disabilities requiring special assistance, treatment or facilities must communicate special needs to YLH when the booking is made.
ENTRY INTO CANADA
To enter and leave Canada, all U.S. citizens must carry proof of citizenship such as a valid passport or passport card. Noncitizens must have a valid passport, visa or alien card that permits entry into Canada. A “multiple entry” visa for return to the U.S. may be required. Passengers traveling on Amtrak® rail into Canada must provide date of birth and citizenship information at the time of reservation. Contact the Canadian Consulate before travel for further information.
HOTELS
Specific requests must be made at the time of booking and will be honored at the discretion of a hotel or attraction supplier. Bedding requests are not guaranteed. At some hotels, there will be an additional charge if a crib or rollaway bed is required, payable directly to the hotel. Minimum stay rule may apply at some hotels.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Travel documents will be sent via United States Postal Service approximately 25 days prior to your departure, after YLH receives full payment.
TOUR PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE
Gratuities, baggage handling and other incidental charges. Where rental cars are available, the rental does not include state and local taxes, airport fees, loss damage waiver (LDW), gasoline and surcharges for drivers under age 25 (where applicable).
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE
Individuals with mobility impairments and or disabilities requiring special assistance, treatment or facilities must communicate any special needs to YLH when booking.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITIES OF YLH (THE TOUR OPERATOR)
• YLH is responsible for selecting the suppliers that provide the component parts (e.g., hotel accommodations, transfers, car rentals, tours and activities, etc.) for the travel arrangements described in this document.
• YLH is an independent contractor that arranges travel-related services.
• YLH is not an agent of the customer, or of those providing travel-related services and does not in any manner directly provide the accommodations, transportation, meals or other travel-related services.
• YLH is not responsible for personal injury or property damage caused by any act or omission, intentional, negligent or otherwise, by any direct carrier, hotel or other supplier or service being offered in the vacations package including but not limited to acts of terrorism, mechanical breakdowns, government actions, weather or acts of God, any delays incurred due to mechanical difficulties or weather conditions, or any circumstances beyond YLH’s control including routing changes and/or changes in type of equipment operated. YLH MAKES NO IMPLIED OR EXPRESS WARRANTIES IN THE OFFERING OF ANY VACATION DESCRIBED IN THIS DOCUMENT.
• The services described in this document, other than carriage by Amtrak, are furnished by independent contractors who are not servants of or joint ventures, agents of or partners with YLH.
• By making payment for your reservation, you acknowledge and agree to all terms and conditions set forth in this document, in particular to the limitations of liability and responsibilities set forth above.
• YLH “Package Prices” are subject to change without notice.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITIES OF NATIONAL RAILROAD PASSENGER CORPORATION (AMTRAK)
• AMTRAK IS RESPONSIBLE ONLY FOR THE RAIL TRANSPORTATION IT PROVIDES IN CONNECTION WITH YLH TOUR PACKAGES. AMTRAK DISCLAIMS LIABILITY, AND IS NOT RESPONSIBLE, FOR (1) ANY ACT OR OMISSION OF YLH OR ANY OTHER SERVICE PROVIDER; OR (2) ANY ACCOMMODATIONS, SERVICES, FEATURES OR OTHER TRANSPORTATION OF THE TOUR PACKAGE.
• All rail passenger transportation via Amtrak shall be provided under its terms and conditions of carriage, which shall constitute the sole contract between Amtrak and the purchaser of these tours and/or passenger.
• FARES, TIME SCHEDULES, ROUTES, EQUIPMENT, SERVICES, PRODUCTS, ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION, CUSTOMS INFORMATION AND ALL OTHER INFORMATION ARE (1) NOT GUARANTEED, (2) PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, (3) SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE AND (4) FORM NO PART OF THE CONTRACT BETWEEN AMTRAK AND A CUSTOMER. YOUR SOLE REMEDY FOR DISSATISFACTION WITH THE SITE, MATERIALS, SERVICES, SOFTWARE OR ANY LINKED SITE IS TO STOP USING THE SITE, MATERIALS, SERVICES, SOFTWARE OR LINKED SITE, AS APPLICABLE.
