Start your tour in the Mile-High City, which offers 300 days of sunshine every year. While here, enjoy a city tour or mountain-parks tour.  From Denver, you will travel west to Salt Lake City, home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Brigham Young Historic Park.  Enjoy two nights here before driving on your own to West Yellowstone.  Whether you stay in or out of Yellowstone Park, you will enjoy your visit to one of the most spectacular national parks in the United States.  After spending two nights at Yellowstone, you will travel back to Salt Lake City to board the Amtrak train to San Francisco.  What better way to end your tour than with memorable views of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean!  Highlights of San Francisco include Fisherman’s Wharf, Nob Hill, Union Square and Pacific Heights.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY:

 

Day 1 Arrive & Explore Denver

Welcome to Denver, known as the Mile-High City. Enjoy the views of the fabulous Rocky Mountains. (Overnight in Denver)

 

Day 2 Denver Exploring

Today you will enjoy the majestic splendor of the Rocky Mountains as you travel to Rocky Mountain National Park on this full day tour. Tour includes admission to the park. Other tour highlights include Berthoud Pass, Winter Park, and Grand lake (Overnight in Denver)

 

Day 3 Denver to Salt Lake City

Transfer to Denver’s Union Station and board the California Zephyr® in Coach accommodations. Evening arrival in Salt Lake City. (Overnight in Salt Lake City)

 

Day 4 Salt Lake City Exploring

Enjoy Salt Lake City on own. Trace your family’s history with a visit to Temple Square* (Overnight in Salt Lake City)

 

Day 5 Salt Lake City to West Yellowstone

Hop in your rental car and drive to West Yellowstone. The easy drive will take approximately five hours. Transportation available for those who don’t want to drive. (Overnight in West Yellowstone)

 

Day 6 Yellowstone Exploring

Board your coach for a full-day tour of the lower loop. Highlights include Old Faithful Geyser, the Old Faithful Inn, Isa Lake on the Continental Divide and more. (Overnight in West Yellowstone)

 

Day 7 West Yellowstone to Salt Lake City

Take a leisurely drive back to Salt Lake City. Drop your car off and board the train in Roomette accommodations, continue traveling to the West Coast. (Overnight on train)

 

Day 8 Salt Lake City to San Francisco

The Amtrak train will take you as far as Emeryville, CA. From here, you will board a Motorcoach for San Francisco. (Overnight in San Francisco)

 

Day 9 San Francisco Exploring

Spend the day exploring Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito. The tour includes Muir Woods with some of the tallest and oldest Coastal Redwoods in existence, Marin County, Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito. Enjoy dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf at Neptune’s Palace.  (Overnight in San Francisco)

 

Day 10 Vacation Ends in San Francisco

Bid farewell to San Francisco. At this point, you will have the following options:

 

·Return to Denver on Amtrak

·Extend another night in San Francisco with a day trip to Yosemite or Napa Valley

·Rent a car and explore California

Seating Accommodations

The availability of these options varies depending on your route and the kind of train equipment in use.

Coach Class

Coach class seats are available on all Amtrak trains except Acela Express trains.

On most long-distance trains, we provide extra-spacious Coach Class seating with leg rests designed to enhance your comfort for long or overnight trips.
