SUGGESTED ITINERARY**

Day 1              Arrive and Explore NYC

This evening, you may wish to visit Times Square or view the city from atop the Empire State Building.  Book tickets to one of the many famous Broadway shows as a start to your vacation.  (Overnight in NYC)

 

Day 2              New York City Exploring

Enjoy the sights and sounds of Manhattan on an All Loops Tour including a ticket for the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Ferry. The hop-on/hop-off tour via double-decker bus is valid for 48 hours. Spend the day visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. (Overnight in NYC)

 

Day 3              New York City Exploring

Enjoy more of the National Park sites with the All Loops Tour such as Castle Clinton, Federal hall National Memorial, General Grant National Memorial, Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site, African Burial Ground National Monument, Lower East Side Tenement Museum. In the evening, enjoy a delightful meal at The View Restaurant, atop the Marriot Marquis or The Beacon Restaurant.

 

Day 4              New York City to Boston

Travel by Amtrak to the charming city of Boston, and experience “Beantown’s” colonial charm and history.  In the evening, board the Spirit of Boston for a suggested relaxing dinner cruise (Overnight in Boston)

 

Day 5              Boston Exploring

Explore the National Parks sites in Boston on board an Old Town Trolley Tour and visit sites such as the Boston African American National Historic Site, John F. Kennedy National Historic Site, Longellow National Historic site, and Boston National Historic Park. A CityPass of Boston provides access to the Museum of Science, New England Aquarium, Skywalk Observatory, Museum of Fine Arts and more. (Overnight in Boston)

 

Day 6              Boston to Philadelphia

Board Amtrak for Philadelphia.  Philadelphia offers a wide selection of attractions, culture and entertainment.  (Overnight in Philadelphia)

 

Day 7              Philadelphia Exploring

Discover Philadelphia’s historic National Parks Sites with the Philly Trolley Works Big Bus Tour (hop on/hop off to see Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial and Independence/Liberty Bell National Park). (Overnight in Philadelphia)

 

Day 8              Philadelphia to Washington, DC

Departing Philadelphia by Amtrak, travel to Washington, DC, the capital city of the United States.  Enjoy dinner at Finemondo.  (Overnight in Washington, DC)

 

Day 9              Washington, DC, Exploring

Take the day to discover Washington, DC’s many highlights on a step-on/step-off Old Town Trolley. Visit National Parks sites such as the Capitol Hill Parks, Constitution Gardens, Ford’s Theatre, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial and more. (Overnight in Washington, DC)

 

Day 10            Vacation Ends in NYC

Spend the morning at the National Museum of Crime & Punishment, Newseum, or Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum before you board Amtrak back to New York City. Depart for home from New York City.

Seating Accommodations

The availability of these options varies depending on your route and the kind of train equipment in use.

Coach Class

Coach class seats are available on all Amtrak trains except Acela Express trains.

On most long-distance trains, we provide extra-spacious Coach Class seating with leg rests designed to enhance your comfort for long or overnight trips.
