Enjoy a short stay in Chicago before boarding the Southwest Chief® and heading to Arizona and the Grand Canyon.  En route, you will make a stop in Santa Fe, where historic cultures thrive.  Arrive at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and experience life as it was in the Wild West.  Board the Grand Canyon Railway for an unforgettable excursion to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  Flagstaff is your final destination, where you will be treated to an all-day tour of Sedona.  At the end of this excursion, return to Chicago or continue on to Phoenix or Los Angeles.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY**

Day 1              Arrive & Explore Chicago

Welcome to Chicago, take a walk down the Magnificent Mile for world-class shopping, dining and attractions.  (Overnight in Chicago)

 

Day 2              Chicago Exploring

Enjoy your choice of a Chicago River and Waterfront Tour or a standard city tour.  The best way to see the city is by boat.  Dinner at Tuscany is included.  (Overnight in Chicago)

 

Day 3              Chicago to Santa Fe

Transfer on your own to Chicago’s Union Station and board the Amtrak Southwest Chief, Roomette accommodations.  (Overnight on train)

 

Day 4              Arrive in Santa Fe

Santa Fe is known as a treasure for art, culture, cuisine and its views of serene mountains.  (Overnight in Santa Fe)

 

Day 5              Santa Fe Exploring

Meet your guide and experience the historic sites, artwork and landscape of Santa Fe.  (Overnight in Santa Fe)

 

Day 6              Santa Fe to Williams Junction/Grand Canyon

Upon arrival in Williams Junction, you will be transferred to Williams and the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel.  Enjoy a good night’s sleep before awakening for your adventure to the Grand Canyon.  (Overnight in Williams)

 

Day 7              Grand Canyon Aboard Grand Canyon Railway

Enjoy breakfast at the Grand Depot Café and be sure not to miss the morning shootout before boarding.  Enjoy a tour of the Canyon upon arrival.  (Overnight in the Canyon)

 

Day 8              Grand Canyon to Flagstaff

Enjoy your last morning and early afternoon in the Canyon before departing for Flagstaff.  (Overnight in Flagstaff)

 

Day 9              Sedona Day Tour

Wake up refreshed and be ready to witness the Red Rocks of Sedona.  You will also have free time to explore downtown Sedona and its many shops and restaurants.  (Overnight in Flagstaff)

 

Day 10            Vacation Ends in Flagstaff

Bid farewell to this awe-inspiring area of natural beauty.  At this point, you have many options to choose from:

 

  • Return to Chicago on the Southwest Chief
  • Continue on the Southwest Chief to Los Angeles to experience this popular West Coast destination
  • Experience Phoenix/Scottsdale and fly home from Phoenix

Coach Class

Coach class seats are available on all Amtrak trains except Acela Express trains.
