To the north are some of the last truly wide-open spaces left on earth, and Amtrak’s Empire Builder takes you there. The Empire Builder is the name for this long-distance train that boards in Chicago and takes the northern route to the West Coast. Start your jouney in Chicago and the “Twin Cities” of St. Paul and Minneapolis before heading into the unspoiled country of North Dakota and Montana. While in Montana, visit Glacier National Park and Alberta, Canada’s Waterton Lakes National Park. Your trip continues west to Seattle, passing through the seven-mile Cascade Tunnel, forests of fir trees and alongside Puget Sound. At this point in your journey, you may continue aboard the Victoria Clipper to visit the capital city of Victoria and the City of Vancouver which are located in British Columbia, Canada.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY**
DAY 1 Arrive in Chicago
Welcome to Chicago, known as the “Windy City”or the Second City.Take a walk down the Magnificent Mile for world-class shopping, dining and attractions or take in a Broadway show.
DAY 2 Enjoy Chicago
Enjoy your choice of a River/Waterfront tour or a standard city tour. A dinner at Tuscany is included either night of your stay.
DAY 3 Chicago to Minneapolis/St. Paul
Self-transfer to Union Station in Chicago to board Amtrak® for the “Twin Cities”of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Upon arrival in Minneapolis, you will transfer to the Country Inn & Suites at the Mall of America. This transfer is included.
DAY 4 Twin Cities to Glacier National Park
After your included breakfast, enjoy a full day in the Twin Cities with a “Twin Cities Tour”that departs from the Mall of America. After, board Amtrak’s Empire Builder with sleeping car accommodations to continue your journey through the North Country to Glacier National Park.
DAY 5 Arrive Glacier National Park
Today you will arrive in Glacier National Park where you will find unspoiled beauty among mountains, forests wildlife and, of course, glaciers. You will check in at the Glacier Park Lodge, which is within walking distance of the rail station. Overnight at Glacier Park Lodge.
DAY 6 Explore Glacier National Park
Today you will tour the Park. From 7/1 – 9/16 you will also cross the U.S./Canada border to Waterton Lakes for a visit to the Prince of Wales Hotel and enjoy afternoon tea. The Prince of Wales is one of the most photographed hotels in North America with its jaw-dropping backdrop. Overnight at Glacier Park Lodge.
DAY 7 Explore Glacier National Park
Today you will continue touring before returning to the Glacier Park Lodge for your final night’s stay in Glacier Park.
DAY 8 Glacier National Park to Seattle
Enjoy your final day relaxing at the Glacier Park Lodge before departing on the Empire Builder for Seattle. Late checkout at 1:00 p.m. with plenty of optional activities available for all guests.You’ll board the train with sleeping accommodations for your overnight journey to Seattle.
DAY 9 Arrive Seattle
Upon arrival in Seattle, you’ll transport to your Seattle hotel. “Metronatural”Seattle offers both a thriving urban center and a healthy natural environment.Your day is at your leisure with admission and dinner to the Space Needle included.
DAY 10 Explore Seattle
Today enjoy a hop on/hop off tour of Seattle including a ninety-minute boat cruise of Seattle Harbor.The tour will stop at many of Seattle’s most visited sites. Overnight in Seattle. Overnight in Seattle.
DAY 11 Vacation ends in Seattle or one may extend into British Columbia. (Victoria, & Vancouver)
